MEMBERSHIP

Membership The Institution of Diesel and Gas Turbine Engineers welcomes and

seeks to attract Members from Countries around the World. IDGTE

has members in many countries and strives to serve the interests of

Members in different countries. In the past year a Branch has been

set up in Canada. The views of those living outside the United Kingdom

are sought in all sections of activities.

We seek to promote the sharing of knowledge of Diesel Engine and Gas Turbine Technology between countries. The Annual Working Cost report is one such area where the Institution seeks the co-operation of those involved in the Diesel and Gas Turbine Industry World Wide.

The Institution is a non-profit making organisation with over 600 members worldwide, operating to serve its members in the Diesel and Gas Turbine Engineering Industry.

The IDGTE is the successor to the former Diesel Engineers and Users Association formed in 1913, to enable users of that time to compare the operational experiences.

The scope of the Society was later expanded by admitting engine and component manufacturers as members together with those consulting engineers who were involved in diesel engine application and technology. As Dual-fuel and spark ignition gas engines evolved and gas turbines were developed, the Society expanded to embrace their technologies.
